Since 1993 the Bridge of Friendship Germany leads projects in Kaliningrad (present name is Kaliningrad), e.g. the helping programm "Child House No. 1". In this institution abused and poor street children are loving taken cared of before they go into good orphanages or checked foster-parents. The Bridge of Friendship Germany supports basically activities like the renovation of the maroden roof in cooperation with the social agency and the procurement of food for this child house, for a home for handicapped children, a soup kitchen for old humans and a poor school in Conradswalde.
The Bridge of Friendship Germany also supplies hospitals with medical consumer goods and medicines as well as with bedlinen, since patients were bedded so far on newsprint. This organization made medical instruments available for the infection and Aids hospital, e.g. an ultrasonic and a laser apparatus by direct and cash donations in the context of this project. In the January 2001 this project was nominated for the Grand Prix for Humanitarian Assistance as the only foreign relief aid organization on the occasion of presentation of awards in Königsberg under the title "humans, world, time".
